Index Name:    The Wilshire Small Cap 250 Index

The Wilshire Small Cap Index measures the performance of the small capitalization sector of the U.S. equity market as defined by the Small Cap 1750 Index. It is a market-weighted index comprised of 250 stocks using proprietary sampling and construction techniques to minimize turnover and liquidity problems without altering the performance pattern of small cap stocks.


Construction/Methodology

Membership

  • A subset of the Wilshire Small Cap 1750 Index
  • Proprietary sampling and construction techniques to minimize turnover and liquidity problems without altering the performance pattern of small cap stocks rebalanced every May.

Adjustments and Maintenance

  • Additions to the index are made when a company has been acquired or delisted to keep the number at 250.
  • Additions are selected based on liquidity and index industry characteristics.
  • A security will be removed from the index on the day it stops trading.
  • Shares outstanding may be adjusted to reflect corporate events during the month; otherwise, shares outstanding are updated once a month.
